'In This Corner of The World' Live-Action TV Series Announced

'In This Corner of the World' (Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni) manga is getting a live-action television series adaptation this summer. Fumiyo Kouno, the author of the manga, noted that he's excited for the parts of the manga that can only be adapted in the form of live-action.

The manga has previously been adapted into an anime movie titled In This Corner of The World, which released in Japan on November 12, 2016 and had a U.S. theatrical release on August 11, 2017.

'In This Corner of the World' won the 40th Japan Academy Film Prize for Best Animated Film, the 90th Kinema Junpo Best 10 Award for Best Japanese Film as the second-ever animated film, and the Jury Award at the 41st Annecy International Animated Film Festival, and was nominated for the 45th Annie Award for Best Animated Feature-Independent. Also, Netflix has added the movie to its database.

Here is the plot of the movie:

In 1944, Suzu Urano moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima where she marries Shuusaku Houjou—a young clerk who works at the local naval base. Living with his family, Suzu becomes essential to the running of the household and creatively prepares meals during the tough wartime conditions while also carrying out daily housework. In 1945, intense bombings by the U.S. military finally reach Kure with devastating effect to the townsfolk and their way of life. Suzu's life is changed irrevocably, but through perseverance and courage, she manages to continue to live life to the fullest.
